Heritage Trail

Haverford Heritage Trail – a 13.5 mile loop trail around and through Haverford Township designed to blend Haverford’s rich heritage with healthful exercise and encourage awareness of the township’s geography, environment and historic sites. To date most of the trail has been mapped using existing roads, streets, parkland and foot paths already in use.
Future Plans:
• Way-finding signage: Eagle Scout project of Jaden Sargeant, using sign design by Jeanne Angell.
• A map and guide to the numerous historic sites along the trail. This brochure will be funded by the Haverford Township Historical Society. It will also be on the HTHS website.
• Establish a Trail Club to help maintain the off-road portions of the trail.
• A web page accessible through the Haverford Township Civic Council.
• Eventual connection with other trails such as the Cobbs Creek, Haverford Reserve and Radnor-Tinicum Trail.
Areas of the trail as planned which need attention:
• Safety concerns along the section of Karakung Drive north of Nitre Hall at the Beechwood Bridge
• Easements for the Waterview Circle properties along the Darby Creek
• Improve access under the “Blue Route” and West Chester Pike bridge
• Connections for the trail from the Federal School on Darby Road along Marple Road and through Quadrangle property
