Join us as we celebrate the natural beauty and unique character of our township and document it through photography for future generations. Submit your favorite photos taken in Haverford Township to be part of a Photography Exhibition held inside Nitre Hall during the Hertiage Festival. 2010 HTHS Festival

Join us for one of Haverford Township's favorite community events as the Historical Society celebrates the rich, cultural heritage and local history of our area. In the beautiful and historic setting of Karakung Drive along Cobbs Creek, the Heritage Festival brings together people from all over the Township. The event's activities will include:

  • Open House/Tours of Lawrence Cabin and Nitre Hall
  • Live music all day including Haverford High School's outstanding Choral groups, the Setting Sons, Jez Godin, Broessler School of Irish Dancing, and a Colonial Dancing demonstration, plus lots more.
  • Food provided by local favorites JD McGillicuddy's and Brookline Pizza as well as Bella Rose Catering and local Boy Scout troops
  • Historical Re-enactors - antique firearms demos, blacksmithing, Ned Hector, Caroline Herschel, representatives from 1696 Thomas Massey House, representatives from Pa. Colonial Plantation, and more.
  • Tours of Nitre Hall and Lawrence Cabin;
  • Photography Exhibition inside Nitre Hall featuring photos taken in Haverford Township
  • Artisans/Crafters
  • Local non-profits on hand to share information and network;
  • Antique Cars on Display
  • Model Train Display by local train enthusiast Bill Parkinson
  • Pony Rides, Scavenger Hunt and other activities for children
  • Booth/displays by local organizations
  • Beer tent

The Heritage Festival takes place on Karakung Drive between Lakeside Drive and Manoa Road. Parking is available at either end of the festival along the road. We encourage visitors to walk or ride bikes. A bike parking area will be available near Nitre Hall at the festival. The festival will be held rain or shine. Stroll the drive and enjoy the day with the whole family!!


Become a Participant - The Historical Society invites you to be part of the Heritage Festival! There are several ways for you to step into history with us:

Volunteer Give us an hour (or two!). We need volunteers to direct parking, sell tickets and direct visitors. Contact Tricia Woodman at johnwman@msn.com for more information.

Artists/Crafters Reserve your space now! Spaces are filling quickly, but we encourage local artists and crafters to join us at the festival. The registration fee is $25. (See the form linked here---->> artistregistration2010.pdf)

Submit a Photo(!) The Photography Exhibition inside Nitre Hall is open to everyone. We want to see YOUR Haverford Township. Submit your favorite photo taken in Haverford Township. Photos will be entered into a juried exhibition with cash prizes awarded to the winners.
